What I’m Cooking

I will be adding my favorite recipes to this site in the future.  I believe a great way for families to grow together is to cook together.  I hope to get video’s and photos of my family cooking.

OK.  Some of you know that Catherine and I just got back from China with a group of friends.  One our favorite foods while were there were fresh green beans.  Last week, Catherine tried out her own version and I must confess that it was very close to the real thing.  Here it is, try it and I think you will love it.

Beijing Green Beans (American Style)

1 Serving of fresh green beans.  (large enough for your family)  Washed and ends cut off.

1/4 lbs of ground pork or sausage (cooked and crumbled)

4 cloves of garlic (minced)  More or less to your taste.

2 TBS olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste (We used McCormicks “Hot Shot”  Black and red pepper blend)

Directions:  Cook green beans in a large pot until water boils.  Beans should still be a little crunchy.  In a large skillet, cook and crumble pork or sausage and remove from skillet when cooked, leaving grease in the pan.  Add olive oil and stir fry the green beans.  If your oil is hot, make sure to get all of the water off of the beans before adding to the oil.  It could cause a fire.   When the beans are almost cooked to your liking, add the garlic, meat, and salt and pepper.

Cook together for another minute or so until all ingredients are together and happy.

Serve and enjoy hot.  Don’t forget the chop sticks.
